NARCISO MAISTERRA MUSEUM
The Museo Narciso Maisterra is located in Fuentes de Valdepero a small village near Palencia in the center of the Castillian plateau, which keeps the flavor of the past with a castle of the fifteenth century, a small romanesch church of the thirteenth century, one of the arches to enter the village and a magnificent manor house in need of repair.
The traditional architecture of this rural houses is the resul of what one can be built with simple local materials such as stone, adobe, hand made bricks and scare Wood. The old properties selected to be restaured for the creation of the Museum were made with these materials since they are around two hundred years old rural homes.
The museum facilities consist of two buildings, one in front of the other in the same street, both two stores high. The building in C. Rica 27, formelly three houses, occuppies an area of 500 m2 per plant and a garden of 150 m2. The building in C. Rica 8, an area of 125m2 and a small patio.
The purpose of the Museum is to keep and divúlgate the work of the spanish artist Narciso Maisterra wich was developed from the early sixties to 1980 in the United States and then be continued in Spain up to today. The Museum also offers a varied program of cutural activities.
